Immune function
Trials report shifts in immune cell counts and cytokine measures during reishi supplementation, mostly in people undergoing cancer treatment. These are laboratory parameters; the reviews that pooled them describe the evidence as low quality and do not support a clinical claim.
What may be going on: Beta-glucans bind dectin-1 and complement receptor 3 on innate immune cells, an interaction well characterised in laboratory systems. How much intact beta-glucan an oral extract delivers is the unresolved part.
Limited evidence. Early human work, or mostly lab and animal research.
