Skin structure and hydration
Meta-analyses of collagen peptide trials report small improvements in skin hydration and elasticity over eight to twelve weeks. The underlying trials are short, small, mostly manufacturer-funded, and frequently tested blends containing vitamin C and other ingredients, so the effect attributable to collagen alone is uncertain.
What may be going on: Collagen-derived dipeptides appear in blood after ingestion and stimulate fibroblast activity in laboratory models. Whether that is a specific signal or simply amino acid provision is unresolved.
