Blood lipid profile
Feeding studies show echium oil raises blood EPA more efficiently than flaxseed oil does, and small trials report modest triglyceride reductions. It does not raise DHA, and no trial has measured a clinical endpoint.
What may be going on: Stearidonic acid bypasses delta-6-desaturase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the conversion of alpha-linolenic acid to EPA.
Limited evidence. Early human work, or mostly lab and animal research.
