Digestive comfort
Small trials report that colostrum reduces the rise in intestinal permeability caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or by strenuous exercise in the heat. The samples are small, the endpoint is a laboratory measure of permeability rather than symptoms, and replication is limited.
What may be going on: Bovine immunoglobulins and lactoferrin act within the gut lumen, and growth factors such as IGF-1 and TGF-beta have trophic effects on intestinal epithelium in laboratory models.
Limited evidence. Early human work, or mostly lab and animal research.
